Artist's Comments
This garment was designed for the Fashion International 2003 Style Awards and was displayed on the runway at "A Novel Idea...A Look At The Classics". It is also featured in the movie "Almost Romeo."
The top is made of black velvet and is hand sewn with gold coins and gypsy trim. The 19th century under bust corset is red China silk, trimmed with black suede. The purple overskirt and burgundy underskirt are made of crepe back satin; the underskirt is adorned with gypsy trims and satin ruffles . Close up of the Moulin Rouge corset per request! on another note, im about to start studying costume design etc and am really excited about it. i hope it goes well. i wont get to make anything like this for a few years yet ("make period costumes" isnt till 3rd year)... but i'm looking forward to it, you have inspired me!
